About Gospeleer

The name “gospeleer” is the name of a minor character in the 1960’s broadway play Finian’s Rainbow. The qualities of that character really have little to do with the purpose of this weblog–I just liked the name.

My “real” name is Mickey Gamble and I am one of the owner/managers of Crossroads. I should begin here by saying that the views and ideas expressed by Gospeleer are my own and should not be interpreted as being an official statement of Crossroads. That said, of course it is not that simple since my views are a part of the mix of the operation of Crossroads.

My purpose here is to discuss the evolution of the music business and, in particular, the so-called southern gospel industry. My intention is to create discussion by speaking from my unique perspective of being involved as a decision maker in the music business for the last 25+ years with a particular focus on the massive changes that we are now experiencing.

I must thank those who have “paved the way” for this effort by jumping in there early on and actually creating a viable blogging community in our industry:  Doug Harrison (Avery), David Murray, Daniel Mount, Wes Burke, Brandon Coomer, Aaron Swain, and several others. This group of people has created the new NEWS and are in fact pioneers in what the new industry will look like.  I hope to contribute.
