Someone in the Perry’s camp is on it. Monday night they streamed an event “live” on the internet from Gatlinburg. A couple of weeks ago, videos were posted all over the internet of a song performed at Kyla Rowland’s event in Sevierville. Libbi has been “posting” stuff for their fans on Facebook several times a day for sometime now. And there are fan-generated Perry’s groups on Facebook as well.
To their credit, they seem more interested is serving their followers than worrying about whether someone gets to hear or see their music for “free.” Someone has figured out that, in this “music 2.0″ world, they are not just “selling music.” Perry Fans want the music, yes. But they also want more: they want the whole package of who the Perrys’ are: their beliefs, their lifestye, their daily inspiration, and most of all they want the Perrys’ attention.
And The Perrys are giving them that; they are giving themselves. Genuinely. And using the internet to do it. And their “friends” are bringing other, new, friends to the fold.
There was a discussion recently on Averyfineline about whether the Perry’s are “the best” in Southern Gospel. This kind of discussion is mostly irrelevant today. The Perrys are already “the best” to their followers. They are “famous” to their followers, whether the standard media notices or not. And these followers are bringing others.
“Old school” connections with fans using “new marketing” tools. Music 2.0. The Perrys are getting it right!

Right on.
Add to that that Libbi often personally answers fans’ email (building that direct contact with true fans) and that Joseph keeps up with his better than 1,000 Facebook friends … the Perrys are doing something right, that’s for sure.
Hey, have you seen this news article?
New details about Michael Jackson’s Death Emerge
I was wondering if you were going to blog about this…
I don’t really see anything “new” in the news. If there had been a “last” commemorative album done, they would have to title it SAD.
